  • Removable adhesives for pressure sensitive labels
  • Floatable films
  • Recycled content for papers and PS liners
  • Flexibility for bundle counts in cut & stack labels, and downgauging material weights

Sustainable Initiatives at Hammer

Our commitment to sustainable solutions starts with our own internal practices. Hammer has invested in the continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes to be more sustainably-focused and environmentally friendly.

Hammer’s sustainable practices include:

  • The use of vegetable-based conventional inks
  • UV-curable inks with no VOCs on our flexo and VSOP presses
  • Wet-strength recovery program diverting waste from the landfill
  • Investment in third-party certifications with annual audits (PEFC)
  • Robust employee-driven internal recycling program and LED lighting throughout Hammer facilities.
  • Addition of a full-time sustainability engineer on staff

PEFC Certification

Hammer meets all of the requirements for the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Chain of Custody for specific papers used in our cut & stack operation. These papers have been certified as sustainably sourced and handled throughout the paper’s lifecycle, including their use in Hammer facilities.

Customer Spotlight: Beech-Nut Baby Food

Beech-Nut welcomed our initiative to remove poly-bags from our secondary packaging process, allowing us to test the concept with their pressure sensitive label rolls. As a result of their partnership, Hammer has expanded the program to most of our customers, eliminating nearly 4 tons of plastic annually from the land fill.
